General Functions

Overview of all UI controls and buttons

New

The existing document will be discarded and replaced with a blank document.

Security prompt:

  • Yes: All content will be deleted and a blank document will be created.
  • No: All content remains unchanged.

Open

Use Open to load AlphadiTab files (.atb) into the application.

Save

The entire document is saved as an .atb file.

The following are saved:

  • all data
  • all analyses performed (including all entries and results)

Save

The entire document can be saved under a different name and in a different location.

Note: Excel files

Excel files can be:

  • be opened in AlphadiTab using drag & drop or
  • be imported using the Import button in the Edit tab.

The Home tab provides basic editing and formatting functions.
All functions correspond to the familiar
Excel standard and are based on the Excel-like component used.

Clipboard

Paste

Inserts content from the clipboard.

Copy

Copies selected content to the clipboard.

Cut

Removes selected content and places it in the clipboard.

Paste

Opens advanced paste options (e.g., values, formats).

Font

Font and font size

Select font and font size for selected cells.

Bold / Italic / Underlined / Strikethrough

Formats the text accordingly.

Borders

Adds or removes cell borders.

Font color

Changes the text color.

Cell background

Changes the background color of cells.

Alignment

Horizontal and vertical alignment

Aligns cell contents horizontally or vertically.

Text wrapping

Enables or disables automatic line breaks within a cell.

Merge cells

Merges multiple selected cells into one cell or unmerges them.

Number formats

Number format

Select the number format (e.g., General, Number, Currency, Percentage).

Decimal places

Increases or decreases the number of decimal places.

Cells

Insert

Inserts new cells, rows, or columns.

Delete

Deletes cells, rows, or columns.

Format

Opens additional formatting options for cells.

Edit

AutoSum

Automatically inserts sum functions.

Fill

Automatically fills cells with consecutive or copied values.

Delete

Removes content, formatting, or comments from cells.

Sort & Filter

Sorts data or activates filter functions.

Find & Select

Searches for content in the document or selects specific cell types.

Next Not Match

Finds the next cell in the column that differs from the selected cell.

Previous not Match

Finds the previous cell that differs from the selected cell in the column.

Number

Converts the cell values of the selected columns to number format, if possible.

Text

Converts the cell contents of the selected columns to text format.

Date

Converts the cell format of the selected columns to a date format.

Time

Converts the cell format of the selected columns to a time format.

Stack

Stacks multiple columns one below the other and uses the column label as a grouping.

Unstack

Unstacks a data series based on a selected category.

Import

Imports Excel tables.

Caution:

  • During import, all existing content in the document will be overwritten.
  • Opening a new tab does not prevent data loss, as the entire document is always replaced.

Export

Exports all worksheets to an Excel file.

The Formulas section provides Excel-like functions.
The buttons contained therein are based on
standard functions of the DevExpress Excel component and their behavior largely corresponds to the familiar Excel functions.

Function Library

  • AutoSum: Inserts automatic sum functions.
  • Financial: Financial math functions.
  • Logical: Logical functions (e.g., IF).
  • Text: Text functions for editing character strings.
  • Date & Time: Functions for date and time values.
  • Lookup & Reference: Lookup and reference functions.
  • Math & Trig: Mathematical and trigonometric functions.
  • More: Additional functions.

Defined Names

  • Name Manager: Manage named ranges and formulas.
  • Define Name: Creates new named ranges.
  • Create from Selection: Creates names from selected cell ranges.
  • Use in Formula: Inserts defined names into formulas.

Formula checking

  • Show Formulas: Displays formulas instead of calculated values.

Calculation

  • Calculation Options: Set the calculation type (automatic/manual).
  • Calculate Now: Performs an immediate recalculation.
  • Calculate Sheet: Recalculates the current worksheet.

Worksheet settings

Headings

  • Shows or hides the table headings (A, B, C, etc.).

Gridlines

  • Shows or hides the gridlines of the cells in the worksheet.

Rename column headers

  • Allows you to rename column headers.

Zoom

Zoom

  • Opens a window for setting the zoom factor.

Zoom out

  • Reduces the zoom factor.

Zoom in

  • Increases the zoom factor.

100% zoom

  • Resets the zoom to the default view (100%).

Freeze panes

  • Fixes either the first row or the first column.
  • The freeze can be canceled at any time.

Tip:
Freezing the top row is helpful if it contains the column or data titles.

PivotTable

  • Creates a pivot table from existing data.
  • The pivot table can then be further edited and customized.

Table

  • Converts a selected data range into a table.

Image

  • Inserts an image into the current worksheet.

Link

  • Inserts a link to link content.

  • Websites or files
  • Links within the workbook
  • Email addresses

Symbols

  • Allows you to select a symbol from a symbol table and insert it into the worksheet.

The Page Layout tab contains settings for page and print configuration.
The functions correspond to the familiar Excel standard and are based on the DevExpress component used.

Page Setup

Margins

Sets the page margins for printing.

Orientation

Sets the page orientation to portrait or landscape.

Size

Sets the paper size for printing.

Print area

Defines the area of the worksheet to be printed.

Print title

Specifies rows or columns that are repeated on each printed page.

Print options

Gridlines

Turns gridlines on or off in the printout.

Headings

Turns row and column headings (e.g., A, B, C) on or off in the printout.

Arrange

Bring to front

Brings a selected object (e.g., image or shape) to the foreground.

Send to Back

Places a selected object behind other objects.

FlowCharter

Provides a form for creating process flowcharts.

VOP

Creates a new worksheet with a VOP.

VOB

Creates a new worksheet with a VOB.

VOC

Creates a new worksheet with a VOC.

VOE

Creates a new worksheet with a VOE.

Random Data

Generates random data based on various statistical distributions.

Distribution Test

Checks whether one or more selected distributions are suitable for representing the data.

Normality Test

Uses various test methods (default: Anderson-Darling) to check whether the data in a column is normally distributed.

Bar Chart

Creates bar or column charts in various configurations.

Pie Chart

Creates pie charts in various configurations.

Box plot

Creates boxplots in various configurations.

Histogram

Creates histograms in various configurations.

Correlation

Creates correlation diagrams in various configurations.

*Regression models can be displayed optionally.

Timeseries

Creates time series diagrams in various configurations.

MSA 1

Performs a measurement system analysis (MSA 1).

MSA 2 – continuous

Performs a measurement system analysis for continuous characteristics.

MSA 2 – attributive

Performs a measurement system analysis for attributive characteristics.

Cp / Cpk

Performs a process capability analysis for different distributions.

Data collection plan

Creates a form for a data collection plan.

Ishikawa

Creates an Ishikawa diagram for cause analysis (cause-and-effect diagram).

C & E Matrix

Creates a cause-and-effect matrix for evaluating influencing factors.

Pareto

Creates a Pareto chart for prioritizing causes or errors.

Hypothesis Tests

2-Sample Proportion

Performs a two-sample proportion test.

2-sample F-test

Performs a two-sample F-test to compare variances.

2-sample T-test

Performs a two-sample t-test to compare means.

Equal variances

Checks whether two samples have equal variances.

 ANOVA

Performs an analysis of variance (ANOVA).

Sample size and test power

Power

Calculates the test power of statistical tests.

Sample Size

Calculates the required sample size.

Regression

Simple

Performs a simple linear regression.

Multiple

Performs a multiple linear regression.

DoE (Design of Experiments)

Full factorial

Creates a full factorial experimental design for the systematic investigation of all factor combinations.

Partial factorial

Creates a partial factorial experimental design to reduce the experimental effort while analyzing the main effects.

FMEA

  Design

Creates a design FMEA to analyze potential errors at the product or design level.

Process

Creates a process FMEA to analyze potential failures within processes.

Action plan

Creates an action plan for structured planning, tracking, and documentation of improvement measures.

The Control tab provides statistical control charts for monitoring and stabilizing processes.

Control charts

I

Creates an individual control chart (I-chart) for monitoring individual measured values.

X̄ (Xquer)

Creates a mean control chart (X̄ chart) for monitoring process means.

P

Creates a P control chart for monitoring the proportion of defective units.

NP

Creates an NP control chart for monitoring the number of defective units with a constant sample size.

U

Creates a U control chart for monitoring defects per unit.

C

Creates a C control chart to monitor the number of defects at a constant sample size.
