Purpose of the tool
The Voice of Employee is designed to systematically capture employee feedback and translate it into measurable metrics.
The focus is on employees’ personal concerns and perceptions, particularly regarding their work situation, workload, and opportunities for development.
The tool creates transparency around issues that are often not openly addressed and enables these to be systematically translated into improvement measures.
-
Example: Overtime and continuing education
Overtime
Employees report a heavy workload.
This is quantified by the number of overtime hours worked.
- Current situation: 5 hours of overtime per week
- Target value: 5 hours of overtime per month
- Data type: discrete
Professional Development
Employees feel they are not sufficiently supported in their professional or personal development.
This is measured by the number of professional development courses taken.
- Current status: 1 training course per year
- Target: 1 training course per quarter
- Data type: discrete
-
Procedure
(How was this graphic created?)
Preliminary Work
- Direct collection of employee feedback, particularly on sensitive or personal topics, in a trusting environment
- Defining the underlying problem and deriving an appropriate metric
(e.g., translating statements such as “workload is too high” into a measurable variable such as the number of overtime hours) - Establishment of a target value from the perspective of employee satisfaction
- Determining the appropriate data type
(discrete for countable variables such as the number of training sessions, continuous for measurable variables such as time spent)
