Data Collection Plan

  • Purpose of the tool

The data collection plan is used to systematically organize and standardize data collection within a project. It serves as a set of instructions that the team follows when collecting data. It does not contain the data itself.

  • Example: Entering key figures

This example outlines how the OPEX team collects data so that it can later be displayed in a dashboard.

The data collection plan shows that data is collected over a one-month period and that the data sources are diverse. It would be worth considering whether this could lead to a future project aimed at standardizing the data sources.

  • Procedure

    (How was this graphic created?)

Use in AlphadiTab

  1. In the Measure Phase, select the “Data Collection Plan”
  2. Set the type to “Standard” (The data collection plan now contains only the essential columns.)
  3. Specify the number of rows
  4. Click Create Worksheet.
  • Requirements

  • A team responsible for collecting the data must be established. The team should be composed of members who understand how the data is generated and where it can be found.
  • Terms

Attribute = the name of the measurement to be recorded.

Data type = a data type such as continuous, discrete, nominal, or ordinal. This helps determine which charts are appropriate for analysis and how the data can be summarized and processed further.
